Lorena Becker

Lorena Helen Becker, 94, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1924, in the Town of Lima, Pepin County, Wis., a daughter of Frank I. and Pauline Bauer.
On May 21, 1946, Lorena was united in marriage to Raymond Becker, in Mondovi. To this union, six children were born. Raymond preceded Lorena in death on July 1, 2009.
Before Lorena and Raymond purchased their farm located on the Alma bluff, in 1955, they worked on the farm of Raymond’s dad located in Mondovi. Lorena lived on the farm until 2016, when she moved to St. Elizabeth Health Care Center and later moved to Pepin Health and Rehab on Feb. 1, 2017, where she resided ever since.
Besides working on the farm, Lorena worked for over 30 years for the Town of Belvidere, as an election clerk.
Lorena was a longtime and faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she actively served on the PCCW. She was also a member of the Alma American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 224.
Lorena enjoyed gardening, baking, creating plastic canvas crafts and was an avid card player. She enjoyed a game of partner cribbage with her family at Thanksgiving this year.
Lorena will be remembered for the love and devotion she had for her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Mary) Becker and Bernie Becker, both of Alma, Richard (Kim) Becker of Gilmanton, Donald (Rosemary) Becker of Gotha, Fla.; daughter, Bonnie (Don) Miller of Alma; daughter-in-law, Ann Hesch; 12 special grandchildren, Ann (Jeff) Weix, Nicole (Mark) Reid, Shannon (Jon) Larson, Jason (Deanne) Becker, Jennifer (Ron) Byers, Arla (Nick) Brimer, Shelli (Mark) Brone, Jerad (Robin) Tuxen, Barb (Nick) Webb, Sarah (Aaron) Pisca, Rachel (Nick) Kent and Stephanie (Chris) Nelson; 26 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Josh and Meghan Weix, Braedon and Abigail Larson, Zachary, Courtney, Austin and Logan Becker, Tyler and Ryan Byers, Madison and Nicholas Brimer, Haili and Mason Brone, Anna, Brook and Ella Kent, Jordan and Brielle Nelson, Ray, Jens and Will Tuxen, Bennett Pisca, Matthew and Austin Webb; two step great-grandchildren, Kylee and Kamrya Nelson; sister, Arvilla (Fred) Caturia; brothers, Eugene (Lorraine) Bauer and Merlin (Dorie) Bauer; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Bauer and Carol Bauer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband Raymond, Lorena was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Shirley Tuxen; sisters, Eleanore (Loren) Wright, Lydia (Ray) McManimon and Arlene (John) Weber; brothers, LaVerne (Gertrude) Bauer, Lawrence (Burnedette) Bauer, Hubert (Orvilla) Bauer, Melvin Bauer and Frank Bauer, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m., at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, in Alma, with Father Antony Joseph as celebrant. Burial followed in Alma Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Talbot Family Funeral Home, Alma, and again at the church on Monday from 10 a.m., until the hour of the Mass.
The family of Lorena wishes to send a heartfelt thank you to the employees and staff of St. Elizabeth Care Center and Pepin Health and Rehab, the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth Medical Center for all of their compassion and care.
Mom, “The door is shut” but the gates of Heaven are open!
