Last week, the Mondovi boys basketball team beat the Saint Croix Central Panthers and the Spring Valley Cardinals. These two games brought the team to a 4-0 record in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference, making them the number one team in the league.
The Buffaloes headed to Saint Croix on Tuesday, Jan. 6, to face off against the Panthers. It was a close game all the way through. The Panthers stuck with the Buffaloes, but in the end Mondovi came out on top with a score of 47-44.
Jake Ede and Blake Purdy were the leading scorers of the game, both with 12 points for the Buffaloes. Hayden Ford came in second for points scored with nine.
After the win on Tuesday, the Spring Valley Cardinals took a trip to Mondovi to battle the Buffaloes on their home court. It was another close game and heading into half time the Cardinals had a two-point lead over the Buffaloes. But Mondovi came out of the locker room hot, scoring 18 points in the third quarter to gain the advantage on their way to another Mondovi win, 47-41.
Purdy helped lead the Buffaloes on the scoreboard once again, racking up a total of 14 points. Ford was close behind him with 10 points.
The boys will head to Boyceville to take on the Bulldogs on Thursday, Jan. 15. On Saturday, Jan. 17, the squad will take on the Colfax Vikings, who are currently second in the conference. Tip-off is slated for 2:30 p.m.
