Orlen Stamm

Orlen D. Stamm, 84, of Mondovi, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Hillview Senior Living, Mondovi.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1932, in the Town of Gilmanton, to the late Albert and Iva (Wergerland) Stamm. Orlen was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Modena. On Aug. 23, 1958, Orlen was united in marriage to Diane Onash, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi. Sadly, Diane preceded Orlen in death on March 1, 2004.
Orlen hauled canned milk for Roger Marten. He took great pride in being the first employee of Roger Marten, who would later own Marten Transport.
Orlen worked for the Buffalo County Highway Department for 42 years, where he was a heavy equipment operator. He also worked with his dear friends, Larry and Barbara McGee, at Mondovi Auto Repair.
Orlen served the City of Mondovi as a Council member for 18 years. He was an active and faithful member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi.
Orlen loved to spend time with his early morning coffee group at Blondie’s and later the Family Restaurant. He also enjoyed traveling to Phoenix, Ariz., to visit his sisters.
Orlen is survived by two sisters, Elaine Grigsby of Phoenix, Ariz. and Rosemary (Douglas) Fisk of Mondovi; niece, Sonja (Bruce) Danielson; nephews, Jon Grigsby, Brad Grigsby, Gary Fisk, Brian Fisk and Tony Stamm; also by a community of friends, neighbors and church community.
Besides his parents and wife, Diane, Orlen was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Tately; brother, Dale Stamm.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mondovi, with Pastor Paul Woebbeking officiating. Burial followed in Oak Park Cemetery, Mondovi.
