Robert Schmidt

Robert D. Schmidt 92, of Strum, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.
He was born July 5, 1923, in Granton, son of the late Carl and Esther (Johnston) Schmidt. On July 14, 1946, he married the late Arvilla Iverson and they were married for 34 years until her death in 1980. In 1982, he married Joyce Gullicksrud.
Bob loved spending time with his family and was very, very proud of his farm and his herd. Among the things he enjoyed were tractor pulling, playing cards (500 and sheepshead), coffee shop visits twice a day, square dancing and John Deere tractors.
He was proud to serve as a church council member for many years as well as his membership in the Eleva-Strum Lions Club as a Melvin Jones Fellow, Masons and Shriners. He also was involved in the 4-H program, as well as being a dairy leader.
Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Joyce (Gullicksrud); four children, Gary (Marge) Schmidt of Eleva, Julie (Terry) Melland of Minong, Roger (Julie) Schmidt of Evansville, Susan (Bryan) Endle of Mondovi; eight stepchildren, Judy (Jim) Foss of Strum, Karen (Steve) Hanson of Madison, James (Lynn) Gullicksrud of Eau Claire, Paul (Mary) Gullicksrud of Strum, Mark (Diana) Gullicksrud of Strum, Eric (Cheryl) Gullicksrud of Eleva, David (Karen) Gullicksrud of Strum, Gary (Jodi) Gullicksrud of Eleva; 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, who were all his pride and joy; sisters, Dorothy Looker of Augusta and Ruth Erdman of Ariz.; brother-in-law, Raymond (Rose) Iverson; sisters-in-law, June Schmidt, Elaine Schmidt and Anne (Al) Becker; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arvilla; brothers, Willard, William, Don, Carl; daughter-in-law, Cindy Schmidt; grandsons, Michael and Kyle Gullicksrud; brothers-in-law, Tom Looker and Harvey Erdman; sisters-in-law, Rachel Schmidt and Delores Schmidt.
The family is grateful for the care given to Bob by the American Lutheran Home and St. Joseph Hospice.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday July 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden Cemetery.
