Roger Kent

Roger Lynn Kent, 85, of Gilmanton, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 20, 1933, in Buffalo County, to Roy and Lillian (Larson) Kent. He grew up on his family’s farm in Gilmanton and went on to graduate from Gilmanton High School.
Roger moved to Racine and worked various jobs before beginning his career at Racine Plating Company, where he retired as the plant manager in 1995 and returned to Gilmanton. He liked to hunt in his younger years and later enjoyed visiting the casino, playing cribbage weekly with his brothers, and feeding his birds. He was also a lawn mower extraordinaire.
Roger loved his family and always attended family events, even at great distances. He was an avid Packers and St. Louis Cardinals fan and also enjoyed watching golf. He will be deeply missed.
Roger is survived by his eight children, Mindy (Rick) Hetland of Racine, Pamela (Russ) Howard of Nelson, BC, Canada, Brian (Kim) Kent of Burlington, Vt., Greg (Donna) Kent, Barry (Lisa) Kent, Jenny (Jim) Schumacher, all of Racine, Kerry (Christine) Kent of Eagle River, Ak., and Michael Kent of Gilmanton; 10 grandchildren, Kendra, Kayla, Fuchsia, Tess, Neil, Max, Steven, Megan, Jamie and Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Jessi, Alexander, Collin, Eion, Cielle, Juniper and Savannah; three siblings, Lyle Kent, Lowell (Elnor) Kent, all of Gilmanton, and Geraldine Meistad of Adams-Friendship; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Roger LaRoy Kent; parents, Roy and Lillian Kent; sister, Myrna Loomis; sister-in-law, Lyla Kent; brother-in-law, Leonard Meistad.
The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice for their special care of Roger, especially Amanda and Shannon.
Memorial services were held at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 6, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Gilmanton Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Gilmanton Community Club (c/o Jeremiah Bauer 347 W. Mill St, Mondovi, WI 54755).
