Rosalie Fimreite

Rosalie M. Fimreite, 94, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at Camino De Paz Assisted Living of Tucson.
Rosalie was born Feb. 15, 1923, daughter of Clinton and Martha (Moe) Jackson, of Mondovi, Wis.
Rosalie’s growing up years were spent in Mondovi. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. E. A. Norson. Rosalie loved music and was organist and pianist at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi for a number of years.
Following graduation from Mondovi High School, she attended Vocational School in Eau Claire (now CVTC), and became a secretary. When Rosalie’s father, Clinton, founded Jackson Lumber Harvester Company, she assisted in handling the office and advertising duties.
Rosalie married the love of her life, Howard Fimreite, on Dec. 8, 1945, after his return from serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 2007.
Rosalie and Howard moved to Brewton, Ala, and headed up Jackson Lumber Harvester Company, when it was located there. A son, James, was born when they resided in Alabama. Rosalie had a half-hour radio program Sunday evenings on local station WEBJ. She would play piano and sing favorite hymns requested by listeners.
After the Jackson Lumber Harvester factory in Alabama was destroyed by fire, they returned to Wisconsin and re-organized the company in Mondovi; which remains in operation today.
In 1961, the family moved to Arizona. While there, Rosalie was employed as a secretary in Tucson District One public schools until her retirement.
Rosalie loved flower gardening, and had a flair for interior decorating. She was a gifted artist, took art lessons, and painted many pictures.
Rosalie and Howard enjoyed traveling to various states and to Europe. They appreciated their Norwegian heritage, and during travels to Norway, met cousins they discovered through genealogical study. Every summer, while living in Arizona, they returned to Mondovi to visit friends and relatives.
Rosalie is survived by her son, James, of Tucson; sister, Margith (Tom) Meis; brother-in-law, Donald Fimreite; nephews and nieces, Daniel (Wendy) Meis, Naomi Meis, Mary Jo (Bob) David, Jeff (Patty) Fimreite, Lori (Dave) Wehinger, Lisa (Roy) Quam; grand nieces and nephews.
