Man found dead near railroad tracks in Pepin County identified

A man who was reported lying motionless on a frozen slough by a railroad employee on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 5, was pronounced dead by the Pepin County Coroner.

The Pepin County Sheriff’s Department says the office received a report from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad of an unconscious male down an embankment from the railroad tracks in Pepin County lying on the ice.

The male, later identified as Steven Joui Glaze, 35, of St. Paul, Minn., was pronounced dead upon the arrival of the coroner. Glaze’s body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy and positive identification.

Efforts by authorities and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office to contact Glaze’s family have been unsuccessful thus far.

The Pepin County Sheriff’s Department is asking for Glaze’s family to please contact them and for anyone with information regarding the victim’s actions or movements from Feb. 2-5 to call the office at (715) 672-5944.

Also assisting at the scene of the incident were the Pepin Police Department, Pepin Fire Department, Lund Fire Department, BNSF Railway Police and Pepin Ambulance.
