Move on over: Mondovi Eye & Optical hops buildings

“The opportunity to purchase the building was unexpected,” Optometrist Dr. Tony Morris said of purchasing 123 South Eau Claire Street in Mondovi.
Dr. Morris explained that Ann Thompson, Mondovi’s former American Family Insurance agent, approached him one day and asked if he would be interested in buying the building. Morris, who had rented the building next door since Sept. 2006 said he liked the idea of owning versus renting, and stopped in to take a look.
“I jumped at the chance to buy it,” he said.
Dr. Morris and his staff, office manager/optometric technician Jennifer Weiss and optometric technician Toni McGee, officially moved over to the new location on June 1.
Weiss said the move was so much easier due to the new location being right next to the former office.
“We’re here for the long haul,” Weiss said. “We are excited to see new patients.”
One of the biggest changes for Dr. Morris was having more space in the new building, allowing for an enlarged waiting room, separate pre-testing and file rooms, a break area for the staff, and “the ability to expand to have two full exam rooms in the future,” he said.
“There is so much more space and with the new paint colors, open floor plan, and openness in the optical area, I feel that it is so much more inviting for patients and customers when they come in,” Dr. Morris shared. “Everyone that has come in so far has been very impressed with the new location and has made very nice comments to us.”
Prior to serving as Thompson’s American Family Insurance office, the building has hosted a coffee shop, floral and gift shop, and a massage therapy practice in recent years.
Mondovi Eye & Optical provides full optical and optometric services, including selling, fitting and dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses. Most insurance carriers are accepted. Dr. Morris provides not only the standard comprehensive eye exams for eyeglasses and contact lenses, but also manages and treats eye infections, eye injuries and other ocular diseases. Dr. Morris also owns and cares for patients at the Durand Optometry Clinic LLC.
