E-S 2015-16 budget, tax levy finalized
by Beth Kraft
State aid figures and student head counts that were finalized in October allowed the School District of Eleva-Strum to do the same with its budget and tax levy for the 2015-16 school year at a special meeting held Wednesday, Oct. 28.
A balanced budget of $7.265 million was approved along with a tax levy of $2,957,822.
Those numbers were minor changes from figures announced at the district’s annual meeting in August. The budget forecast at that time called for revenues of $7.35 million to top expenses of $7.3 million. Any surplus funds will still be banked into the district’s fund balance.
The approved tax levy is a $40,000 decrease from the tentative levy of $2,998,289 that was OK’d at the annual meeting. The final mill rate of 12.34 is a slight increase from the previously-estimated tax rate of 12.165.
