On Tuesday, Dec. 22, the Gilmanton boys basketball team hosted the Cornell Chiefs for its second home game of the season. The Panthers jumped out to a large lead in this one, going up 42-26 by halftime.

The Chiefs struggled to catch up as the Panthers were red-hot. Gilmanton shared the ball very well, making it hard for the Chiefs’ defense. With home court advantage and great team basketball the Panthers defeated the Chiefs 82-61.

Freshman Tanner Hovey led the Panthers with 23 points and five rebounds followed by senior Nick Urness with 17 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Senior Damontae Dewitt also reached double-digits in two stat lines with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Panthers faced off against New Auburn on Tuesday, Dec. 29, for their first of four games on the road in the coming weeks.
