Lady Cards end season in regional semis

Kicking off postseason play on Tuesday, Feb. 23, the No. 9 Eleva-Strum girls basketball team traveled to No. 8 Kickapoo to take on the Panthers.

The Cardinals had the lead in the beginning of the game, scoring 21 points to Kickapoo’s 16. The Lady Cards were able to keep up their momentum in the second half of the game, scoring 18 points to take the win, 39-28, securing the upset.

The three leading scorers for the night were Tatum Everson with nine points and both Josie Olson and Aubree Lasher with eight points each.

With the win, E-S advanced to face top-ranked Bangor in the regional semifinals on Friday, Feb. 26.

The first half of the game was close, with the girls being just three points behind Bangor by a score of 18-15. The second half of the game had more of a gap as far as points go as the Cardinals found themselves down by 20 points to Bangor, leading to the 55-32 loss to end the Lady Cards’ season.

Junior Jenna Booth led E-S with four points, followed by two points apiece from Tatum Everson, Taylor Everson, Greta Monson and Mackenzie Hutchins.

The Eleva-Strum girls closed out their 2015-16 season at 10-14 overall.
