New planters drop in Mondovi; help support Garden Club mission

With the last of the four planters at Mondovi’s main intersection reading level, project participants stopped for a photo op. They are (left to right) Darrell Swanson of Wieser Concrete, Cody LaDuke and Joe Serum, City of Mondovi, and Mondovi Garden Club reps Holly Hesselman, Charlie Warner, Barb Wright, Bonnie Miles and Georgann Hageness.

Darrell Swanson of Wieser Concrete used the crane on the back of his truck to install one of the new cement planters on the northwest corner of Main and Eau Claire streets on Wednesday morning, May 11. Each heavy planter cost a hefty $1,200, paid for by the Mondovi Garden Club with help from local organizations and other donors.

Garden Club member Barb Wright (back) helped guide the placement of a planter at the four-corners intersection. City employees also helped that morning to offload the new cement pots, which replaced 25-year-old wooden planters that were rotting.
