‘Anna-Mobile’ project seeks to obtain new ‘wheels’ for local youth

Anna Zarins and Maggie Avery often dress alike—an extension of their special friendship that has blossomed over the past year. Out of that bond has also come an effort to help the Zarins family obtain a wheelchair-accessible van to make going places with Anna easier.

Maggie Avery pushed Anna Zarins in her wheelchair during the school’s first annual Color-A-Thon to end the 2015-16 school year. The girls can often be found spending time together in and out of school.

Anna Zarins’ first grade class and parents helped present Anna with a new American Girl doll after they noticed her doll’s hair was starting to wear out. Anna regularly does the hair of her new doll, named “Banana,” and also enjoys dressing like her doll. They even had matching casts until Anna’s were removed a few weeks ago.
