Eleva Elementary shuttered; students moved to Central

Students and parents toured the new Eleva Intermediate classroom layout at Central High School during an open house Monday afternoon. Staff members said most students seemed excited about the transition while parent questions mainly centered around scheduling.

Lockers bore elementary students’ names, one of many familiar aspects teachers strove to bring to Central from Eleva.

The Eleva Intermediate Elementary School may remain closed for the remainder of the school year. The school board learned last week that extensive repairs are needed for several areas of the building’s roof due to structural issues that were recently discovered. The future of the Eleva building could be decided in part by a community survey set to go out to district residents this month.
