Mary’s Mercantile brings old-fashioned flair to busy Eleva corner

Mary Hutchinson poses inside her new Eleva shop, Mary’s Mercantile, which opened Nov. 15. The space offers up a variety of unique knitted and crocheted items made by Mary, her family members, and other local fiber crafters. The shop is also an extension of Mary’s farm where she raises Alpacas and spins their wool into yarn.

Snow flurries that fell late last week made the holiday decor on the exterior of Mary’s Mercantile extra-festive. The quaint shop at Eleva’s four-corners intersection is open four afternoons per week, Tuesday-Friday, and also offers fresh eggs straight from Mary’s farm as well as fresh lefse and cheese curds.

Hand-knitted hats, mittens, socks, ponchos and holiday home decor are featured in one corner of the shop.

Alpaca and Llama yarn and rovings (carded fiber ready for spinning) in a variety of natural and dyed colors can be found in the old-fashioned Eleva shop along with sewing supplies.

Amish rugs, hat and scarf sets made from Alpaca and Llama wool, and antiques are among the assortment of old-fashioned items available at Mary’s Mercantile.
