2016 — The Year In Review

The W-K Art students created this beautiful eagle mural last year…then posed around it for a photo. It certainly made for a memorable photo.

“Climbing the wall” can sometimes be an expression of frustration relating to kids, or people in general. But kids climbing the wall in April for a special event under the bridge brought here by Prairie Walls and sponsored by the Wabasha Public Library made for some memorable photos.

This photo taken in late May at the Kellogg Memorial Day celebration may have been our favorite photo of the year, with the flag bearers reflected in this monument at the Kellogg City Park.

ossing the mortarboards at a graduation, as the 2016 W-K seniors did at their graduation in May, is always a memorable moment…for everyone. And when you capture that moment in a photo, as we did here, it makes for a memorable photo, too!

The 2016 Grumpy Plunge held the last Saturday in February drew another large crowd as the day was relatively mild and everyone was enjoying this midwinter celebration in honor of the Grumpy Old Men of Wabasha!

The National Eagle Center’s resident eagle and NEC and Wabasha ambassador Harriet passed away in May. These photos of her with Mary Beth Garrigan and Mike Trok were certainly among the most memorable photos to run in 2016.

County music legend Sherwin Linton returned with his wife, Pam, and his Cotton Kings Band for a June RJAC Meet Me Under the Bridge concert performance. His music and that broad smile always make for memorable moments and photos.

Without question, 2016 was a very big news year for Wabasha.
And didn’t it go by awfully fast?
